Ebud007 asked some questions about how I get the data and I thought I just answer in public, so for your entertainment: here is how it works:

Ever since Turdus introduced this little country competition on his original TA site, I thought this was a really great idea.
So it was only logical, that I always had this on my agenda - and now its ready for you! Where Turdus had made it one competition, I made it fit better in the overall concept of my site. That means: There is a competition for every possible vehicle/track selection. And of course for fastest vehicle per track and for all summed vehicles. You can access it by clicking on the Fastest or All summed buttons in the navigation frame after selecting the vehicles and tracks and then select the Olympics link in the main view. How does the ranking work? For every track/vehicle combination I get me the five best times per country, add them up and divide by five to get the average time of the best five racers per country. Should a country have less than five racers on one of the combinations, only that number of racers can participate for this country. Since I calculate the average time, it doesn't matter how many racers contribute. It is still comparable to the other countries. Who contributes to the competition and what time do I have to get to enter it? Good questions. Right now they are difficult to answer. First you have to see how many racers contribute for your country in the Olympics view. Then it is easiest (but still lots of effort) to open your player stats page, click on each combination you are interested in and scroll down until you see the x'th entry of your country. Thats the time to beat if you are not among those top racers already. Or, just wait a bit. I will provide a contributors list view with qualification times soon ;-) Direct links: http://joban123.net.tc/index.php?olympics_fastest=1 http://joban123.net.tc/index.php?olympics_all=1 I just released the Efforts view in the All Summed page.
That means, you can now see exactly how much a player boosted over all selected tracks and vehicles to achieve his/her times there. The EFFORTS column shows the rank according to the current sort order (e.g boost distance, jump distance, maximum boost distance, ...) and the POS column always reflects the rank according to the summed laptimes so you see how effective the effort has been. Hope you all like it :) Now going olympic. Hmmm, real olympics are all about the three medals - should I rather include only the first 3 players per country? I would still prefer 5, to give more players the chance to contribute... So this is done. You can analyze now in all detail how much effort you opponents have put in their times.
To get the lists, click on "Player summed" in the navi frame and then on "Efforts" in the new 2nd line of the main frame. All summed view will follow soon, then olympics and then SPEED WEEKEND!. Maybe we can revive this nice game mode with proper stats - who knows? Hi all,
before those distance numbers begin to rot in my database I rather do something with them: We now have a player page view where you can see the boost distance and jump distance (max and accumulated). Laps are also shown there, although I dont really know what they mean. If you have an idea, please let me know! You get to that new view by entering the desired player in the vip column, then select "Player stats". In the head line of the main view you should now see a link named "Distances". From the "Distances" view you can toggle back to the "Splits" view. Another way is to click on a player in some other list (like "All summed)". If you do and also had selected a vip before, you dont toggle to "Splits" but to the "Compare" view where you can see vip and player times per track compared like before - and only from this view you can toggle back to "Splits". I think these distances will give a nice additional idea on how much effort was put into getting the times - a bit like the wrecks. And it will be even better, if I have included the "Distances" view in the "All summed" and "Player summed" pages Ok, but this is not all. Like promised, we now have the "Improvements" view everywhere but on the "Fastest" page where it proved to be difficult to get the data in a reasonable time. Hello again,
it was quiet here for some time. Thats because I was busy coding and enjoying getting closer to my 10.000th race :-) But now I have some changes and new features for you to try out on the TA site:
Finally a warning: In case you bookmarked player stats pages before, they will not work correctly now. I had to change the url parameter syntax for them slightly. Where it was enough to write ?player=joban123&vip=Cirrus5005 before, you now need ?player_stats=1&player=joban123&vip=Cirrus5005 Sorry for any inconvenience! Cu on the track, joban123 Fixed the bug that sometimes summed up the wreck count of all vehicles of a track for the fastest vehicle of that track.
AFAIK the data is correct now. Hi there,
while working on the improvements pages I discovered a bug in my import process. There are some wreck counts in the database (about one out of thousand) that are too high. One extreme example is barbs400's Sugar Rush Racing Truck which should have 3108 wrecks but has 8498. Since I still have the raw data, it is fixable, but it will take some time. In the meantime, better not bet your life on those numbers! Hi time attackers,
X10hosting suspended my account once again :( Although I think I do not stress them, just forward a request to an appserver and print the result, they still claim too high resource usage as suspension reason -> ??? I begin to get the impression that they just want to show their advertisements from time to time :/ So, its time to move on. I set up another site and use it as standard. Hope they are more reliable without requiring manual intervention all the time. So, the full set of URL's you can try to see the TA leaderboards is now: http://joban123.weebly.com/time-attack.html (this site, does not allow to set default parameters like ?vip=xyz&limit=10) http://joban123.net.tc/ (recommended, domain forwarder, currently pointing to site90) http://joban123.110mb.com (new, does not allow forwarding or iframes, so its only available as direct link fallback) http://joban123.byethost7.com/ (deleted :( ) http://joban123.heliohost.org/ (resurrected - seems they only had technical problems...) http://joban123.site90.net/ (ooowebhost.com, same as smrtb0mbs motorstormtimes.comyr.com used.) http://joban123.pcriot.com/ (x10hosting, previous default) Hey fellow racers!
This is one of the last important features I planned for this site: you can now sort the player stats page like you already could with the other lists! Now, why would you want this you ask? Well, to easily identify your weak spots! Sort by position or by gap to a vip like Cirrus and you see where the most potential for improvement is. Or to see where you haven't done new times for the longest time and maybe need a refresher. Or just to see where the times are that are worth to brag about :) For whatever reason you choose: Enjoy! What lies ahead? I dont know right now what to do next. Ideas are: show latest improvements like smrtb0mb did, or some country filters a la olympics like turdus had on his TA site might be nice. Also a bit of color would be ok and preselection filters for original/dlc/volcanic tracks. Lots of ideas but all only low priority as far as I am concerned. So, if you have your own ideas or priorities, please let me know! |
